Dubai launches single health screening service for residency visa

Dubai Health has introduced a Unified Health Screening service that combines residency medical fitness and occupational health tests into one application, with residency permits issued automatically after medical approval, according to a Gulf News report. Authorities said the system will reduce duplication and shorten processing time for applicants across sectors.

The service, launched under the City Makers initiative, allows professionals to complete all required medical examinations in a single visit through a digital platform. Once test results are approved, the residency permit is issued without a separate process.

Single Digital Platform

Through an online system, applicants select their profession and apply for screening. The platform determines the required medical tests and links relevant government databases. Authorities said this ensures faster and more accurate data exchange.

The project has been implemented with the Dubai Health Authority, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai, Dubai Municipality, the Supreme Legislation Committee and the Department of Finance. Officials said it supports Dubai’s Social Agenda 33 and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

Dr Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, said the service strengthens joint government work through a single digital pathway that streamlines medical fitness examinations for residency and occupational health. He said the initiative automates procedures and standardises data exchange between entities to support preventive planning.

Faster Residency Process

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, said the Unified Medical Screening service reflects Dubai’s integrated government model based on institutional connectivity.

According to the Gulf News report, he said the authority links databases and enables automated and secure information exchange with partners, ensuring accurate data is available across entities involved in the service. He said this helps speed up procedures and issue residency permits smoothly once requirements are completed.

Engineer Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said, “The service marks a qualitative leap in advancing integration between government systems through unified processes and smartly connected databases. This enables Dubai Municipality’s inspection teams to access accurate, real-time information during inspection operations, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards, strengthening proactive prevention, and enhancing response readiness in emergency situations.”

Dr Amer Sharif, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Health, said, “The Unified Health Screening service marks a qualitative leap in the development of joint government services by unifying procedures and integrating systems of relevant entities. This contributes to simplifying the customer journey and elevating the quality of services.”

Service Centres Across Dubai

The Unified Health Screening service will initially be available at Dubai Health medical fitness centres in Al Garhoud, Al Nahda, Al Karama, Al Yalayis, Bur Dubai, Jebel Ali Free Zone and Zabeel, as well as Smart Salem Centres. Authorities said more centres will offer the service in the next phase to meet demand.

Launched in 2014 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the City Makers initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between government entities and improve shared services across Dubai.
