UAE: UAE petrol prices set to change in May 2026

New UAE petrol prices are set to be announced in May following a sharp increase in April 2026 as fuel prices soar across country

The UAE is set to announce new petrol prices for May 2026 next week.

Petrol prices saw a massive increase in April, in line with global oil markets, which have been severely disrupted by the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran.

Petrol and diesel prices dropped in January and February, but March saw a nominal increase to end the first quarter of the year.

However, sharp price increases in April saw major expense rise for all fuel types at the pumps. Fuel retailers currently price E-Plus 91 at AED3.20 a litre and diesel at AED4.69 a litre in April 2026. That is an increase from the AED2.51 and AED2.85 in December 2025.

UAE petrol prices in May 2026

Special 95 and Super 98 are also much more expensive now than at the end of last year, increasing from AED2.58 to AED3.28 a litre and AED2.70 to AED3.39 a litre respectively.

Since April, the cost of filling up vehicles in the UAE has been:

E-Plus: AED3.20 a litre from AED2.40 in March

Special 95: AED3.28 from AED2.48 in March

Super 98: AED3.39 from AED2.59 in March

Diesel: AED4.69 from AED2.72 in March

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Fuel Price Committee froze petrol prices in the UAE, preventing any changes.

However, in March 2021, the government lifted the controls as global oil prices began to rise, allowing market forces to determine petrol prices once again.

Moreover, changes in crude oil prices worldwide also influence the fluctuation in petrol prices.
